Errol Dyers (Cape Town, South Africa), the acclaimed guitar maestro, is highly respected as a pioneer of what has today become known as Cape Jazz / Ghoema. During his illustrious career, Dyers has performed, recorded and toured locally and internationally with many great artists such as, the late Basil Coetzee, Winston Mankunku, Abdullah Ibrahim, Robbie Jansen & Mccoy Mrubata to name but a few. Dyers music is inspired and influenced by the rhythms & melodies of Cape Town where he was born as well as the people who live there. Dyers has a unique guitar style which maintains an acoustic and reminiscent ancestral sound that captures the guitar strumming of the century-old Cape traditional and folk music.

Hilton Schilder Hilton Schilder was born in 1959 in Lotus River, Cape Town. Born as he was into the musical families of the Schilder’s and Africa’s, Hilton soon found his own sound and developed a musical career of his own. Hilton’s career took of in the 1980’s in partnership with Mac Mckenzie as The Genuines, launching an international reputation that has on numerous occasions over the years made Hilton part of the international jazz scene. As the initiator and driving force behind the band Iconoclast and as a composer and regular member of the band Robbie Jansen’s Sons of Table Mountain, Hilton Schilder has been part of both the international and national South African music scene for decades. Hilton appears on more than 23 cd’s apart from three of his own. His debut album No Turning Back (2003) was nominated for the SAMA Award as best jazz Contemporary album. Although Hilton has gained much respect for his skills as a pianist and composer, he actually plays several instruments. This becomes apparent on his and Alex Van Heerden’s album Future Cape (2006). On this album Hilton’s musical skills shows in his use of as diverse instruments as Khoi mouth-bow, guitar, canter, piano, Navaho flute etc. Hilton Schilder’s last album Elements of Surprise (2007) is a solo piano album where Hilton plays his own compositions, both present and past ones. Currently Hilton is working on two different concepts. Hilton is working on a cd based on his own compositions played by his quartet, The Hilton Schilder Group. This group that was officially formed in 2006, has rapidly gained great popularity, as mirrored by their participation of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival in Cape Town 2007 and the Indian Ocean Jazz Festival in Reunion. Artist in residence at the Bird’s Eye Jazz Club in Basel, Switzerland in 2008.
